Stump Shear is designed to cut, split and loosen tree stumps and major roots so they can be removed more efficiently during land clearing. It is useful where whole-stump excavation with a bucket would disturb excessive soil or require repeated digging.

Selection should consider carrier size, stump diameter, root structure, soil conditions, cutting geometry, hydraulic requirements where applicable and mounting compatibility. Actual cutting capability varies with species, wood condition and model design.
